The exchange at the Lyceum “L. Mascheroni” has got three main aims:
The first and most important is helping students get to know the greatly different situations that are present in Europe and in Italy. To this purpose, before and after the exchange, teachers and classes will deal with issues suitable to make students develop attitudes of understanding and aware acceptance of diversities. The students will also be able to introduce their peer guests to the main aspects of their own society helping them to read it correctly.
The second, more properly academic, aims to learn and reflect together with the twin groups; respecting the diversities between the different school systems, it will consist in taking part in previously arranged lessons or practice about themes of both the syllabuses (for example laboratory experiences related to chemistry, physics and computer studies) otherwise in common workshops about some interdisciplinary themes chosen by the class committee.
The third aim is boosting the communication skills. The international exchange will strengthen the students’ ability to communicate ideas, emotions and knowledge in English. To this purpose the English teachers will get all the chances offered by the situation in every moment of the exchange to make the young people use English efficiently and properly.
The international and national exchange is offered to students of the third or forth classes (16-17-18 years old); the students will be able to join the experience after checking the availability of the families to host foreign students and of the teachers to organize and monitor the activity at every stage. The whole third classes will confirm their availability at the beginning of the school year, the whole forth classes at the end of the third year.
Both students and teachers will be guests at their friends’ and colleagues’ in the different European twin towns in the following school year.
During the week in Bergamo the guest students will live with our families and will be able to share moments of peaceful daily routine together with formal occasions aimed to strengthen the pedagogical and cultural aspect of the meeting, such as seminars, round tables, visits to industrial centres or historical monuments, researches, exhibitions of materials, lectures, activities in foreign language etc.
The didactic method will be the one of group work of students led by teachers following the pattern of action-research; each path, autonomously defined, will imply both lectures and meeting with experts.
